Ten Fifty-Five Brewing is the brainchild of two friends who love beer and want you to love beer, too. Co-owners John Paul Vyborny and Chris Squires bonded over the idea that beer is more than something you drink—it’s a way of life. Intent on sharing their passion with the general public, the duo aims to provide inspired selections that wow connoisseurs and woo beginners while showing that craft brews are meant to be savored, celebrated and shared with family and friends. The result is a unique experience for both expert and amateur craft drinkers—creative concoctions in an unpretentious environment.
Chris Squires is a craftsman. Whether it’s woodworking, soap making or remodeling, his industrious, enthusiastic spirit shines through in all of his efforts. Growing up in Tucson, he attended Marana High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps Reserve. He embarked on his first entrepreneurial endeavor by opening his own tobacco distributorship, selling to bars and restaurants all over Southern Arizona. Crazy for cold ones, he spent years studying zymurgy and home brewing beer as a hobby before taking his ardor for artisan, hand crafted beers to the next level.
When he’s not behind the bar, you can find Chris enjoying a good cigar, cooking, and listening to jazz. He currently lives on Tucson’s east side with his wife and daughter.
John Paul Vyborny is a thinker. He graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School and the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. While Vyborny spent six years developing a successful IT career and working in the restaurant industry, Chris introduced him to the magic of making beer and he quickly fell in love with the craft. After solidifying his skills as a brewer, he moved back to Tucson to open a brewery with the support of his friends, family and new business partner. Vyborny’s signature double IPA won first prize at a local charity competition, beating out dozens of other contestants. He now focuses his time on recipe development and other brewery operations.
When not concocting award-winning brews, he enjoys fishing, reading, and trying different restaurants around town. He resides on Tucson’s north side.
